Decisions, decisions… aka Building an Itinerary for ARIZONA

The first thing we wanted to decide on was where to stay during the first part of our journey. After all, a major part of having a great start to a wonderful vacation is having an excellent place to immediately start relaxing!

Day 0: Leave work, pack, and drive to Flagstaff, AZ. Yes, this might sound crazy, but we already are in Arizona, and it doesn’t take very long to get places via I-10, especially during non-rush hour. (It’s Day zero, because we really didn’t want to count a work day as a vacation day…)

There are several choices to stay at in Flagstaff, but we decided to keep to the theme and stay at Hotel Monte Vista.

Hotel Monte Vista double.queen This picture of a double queen room is from Hotel Monte Vista’s website. Stay tuned for pictured from our visit!

On Expedia, Hotel Monte Vista costs $135 for one night, 2 queen beds. On the hotel site, it’s $30 more if we select a Friday or Saturday night. The prices also change throughout the year, and some months are more expensive than others.

However, the price is the same as Expedia for most nights, so plan your days wisely. They also offer a 10% discount for AARP or military members if you call. Oh, they also have ghost rooms…

Up next, activities for Day 1 (Arizona Part 2)!
